Because in both Clash Royale and Magic the Gathering, every card is given a rarity, I will also be assigning every card a rarity. I will stick quite closely to the Clash Royale Rarity system, because in clash royale, a cards Rarity tends to be an indicator of how advanced or complex a cards abilities are, however in MTG, stronger cards have higher Rarities, and it is going to be my goal to make sure that most cards are relatively balanced. Also I’m using a Clash Royale card creator to make these cards, so it’s just much more convenient. Whilst often the Magic The Gatherings’s given rarity of a card tends to be a good indicator of how rare that card should be in Clash Royale terms, it won’t be as simple as saying common = common, uncommon = rare, rare = epic, and mythic = legendary. I’m going to go off the following system to determine how rare a card should be.
Common: the card has only one ability, or none at all. The cards ability may be complex, but if it is complex, it is likely to be quite situational

Rare: the card will have a few abilities, but usually those abilities will either be relatively simple to understand or be very situational.

Epic: any card that has a paid mana ability will usually be at least epic in rarity. Complex and niche cards find themselves here, along with cards that possess an array of strong abilities.

Legendary A: There are 2 different classifications of legendary cards. The first are cards that earn their rarity through having rare and powerful abilities.

Legendary B: the second classification of Legendary cards are cards which earn their legendary status simply by being a legendary creature in Magic The Gathering, as this is often a good indicator of wether a card deserves legendary status.

Champion: Finally we have the champion rarity. All planeswalkers and only planeswalkers will have this rarity, so it may as well be called planeswalker rarity. The card creator I use doesn’t have champion as an option, so I currently cannot create champion cards. I will explain the universal basics of how planeswalkers function in a separate post.
